1. Ask for deletion
Tell us the email address on the account and what you want removed. You can ask us to close the account entirely, or to wipe the data while keeping the account open.
You can also simply write to legal@leafranger.com — a plain email carries exactly the same weight as this form.
2. What gets deleted
Deleting your account removes the things you put into it:
- Your plants, homes, rooms, spots and placements.
- Your watering history and care events.
- Photographs you uploaded for identification, diagnosis or soil readings.
- Your conversations with Herb, and anything he remembered from them.
- Your profile, handle, bio and privacy settings.
- Your community posts and comments, and your follows.
- Your saved products, cart and wishlist.
3. What we have to keep, and why
Two things survive deletion, and we’d rather be plain about them than let you assume otherwise.
- Order and invoice records. If you have bought something through the marketplace, Indian tax and company law require us to retain the transaction record, including the invoice. We keep the record, not your garden.
- A record that you asked. We keep the deletion request itself so we can evidence that it was made and honoured. It contains your email address and the dates, and nothing else.
Anything a shop holds about an order it fulfilled is that shop’s record, under its own obligations — deleting your LeafRanger account does not reach into a vendor’s books.
4. How long it takes
- Within 48 hours — we acknowledge the request.
- Within 30 days — the deletion is carried out, or we explain why we cannot.
- Up to 90 days — routine encrypted backups age out and the data is gone from those too.
Being straight about today: deletion requests are currently handled by a person rather than by a self-serve button, and the in-app control closes your account and revokes access rather than erasing every row. Completing that erasure path, and a working data export, are on our list of things that must be finished before launch — both are listed as unfinished on our About page. Until they land, the timescales above are met manually, and we’d rather tell you that than let a button imply more than it does.
5. Why we check it’s you
We may reply asking you to confirm the request from the account’s email address, or to answer something only the account holder would know. This is not an obstacle course — it is the only thing standing between your garden and somebody who knows your email address.
For the same reason, this page never tells you whether an account exists at an address you type in. The response is identical either way, deliberately.
6. Deleting from inside the app
You do not have to use this page. The app has the same control under Profile → Account → Delete account, and it asks for confirmation before doing anything. Both routes reach the same place.
7. Your other data rights
Deletion is one of several rights you have over your data under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023. You can also ask what we hold, ask us to correct it, and ask for a copy of it. Those are set out in the Privacy Policy, and the same address handles all of them.
If you are unhappy with how we handle a request, you can escalate it — see Contact for the route, including the one that goes past us.
