Cancellation & Refund Policy

Last updated 30 July 2026 · Operated by Country Devs LLP, Bengaluru, Karnataka, India – 560001

Two different things are covered here: your subscription to LeafRanger, which is between you and us; and orders from shops on the marketplace, which are between you and that shop.

They have different rules, so they are kept apart.

1. The short version

Subscriptions — cancel any time. You keep the features until the end of the month you have paid for. No partial refunds, because it is billed in advance.

Live plants — cannot be returned because you changed your mind. They are alive and perishable, and a returned plant usually cannot be resold.

Anything damaged, wrong, or that never arrived — refunded. Tell us within 48 hours of delivery, with photographs.

2. Subscriptions

  • Cancel any time from the app. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not end your current period.
  • You keep what you paid for. Paid features stay active until the end of the period. After that you return to the free tier.
  • No pro-rata refund for the unused part of a month. It is billed in advance, and any month you have started counts as used.
  • Your plants stay. Dropping to the free tier does not delete plants above the free limit — you simply cannot add new ones until you are back under it.
  • Billing errors are always put right. If we charged you twice, or charged you after you cancelled, tell us and we refund it in full. That is a mistake, not a refund request.

3. Bought through an app store

If you subscribed through the Google Play Store, Google took the payment, not us. Refunds for those purchases are governed by Google’s refund policy and are requested through Google. We cannot reverse a charge that never reached us.

We will always help you work out which route applies, and we will tell you honestly when the answer is “this one is Google’s to refund”.

4. Live plants

Live plants cannot be returned because you changed your mind. This is not us being difficult — a plant is perishable, it is stressed by every journey, and a grower usually cannot resell one that has been posted twice. Perishable goods are a recognised exception to change-of-mind returns.

What you can rely on instead:

  • the listing shows the size and condition you are actually buying;
  • the species is bound to a catalogue record, so the care information is not the seller’s marketing;
  • if it arrives damaged, wrong, or dead, it is refunded — see below.

A plant that is simply unhappy for a few weeks after moving house is normal and is not in itself a fault. Ask us or the shop — settling in badly is usually fixable.

5. Pots, soil, tools, lights and decor

Non-living goods can be returned if you change your mind, provided they are unused, undamaged and in their original packaging, and you tell the shop within 7 days of delivery.

Two exceptions, for obvious reasons: opened bags of soil or compost, and anything made to order or personalised.

6. Always refunded, whatever the item

  • It never arrived within the delivery window the shop published.
  • It arrived damaged — broken pot, crushed plant, split bag.
  • It is not what was listed — wrong species, wrong size, wrong item.
  • A live plant arrived dead, or so damaged it will not recover.

Tell us or the shop within 48 hours of delivery and include photographs, including of the packaging where it is relevant. The 48 hours matters: for a living thing, the difference between damage in transit and damage afterwards stops being visible very quickly.

7. How to ask

  1. Contact the shop first, from the order in the app. They packed it, and they can usually resolve it fastest.
  2. Come to us at support@leafranger.com if the shop has not responded within 48 hours, or if you disagree with their answer.
  3. Raise a grievance at legal@leafranger.com if you want it treated formally. Acknowledged within 48 hours, resolved within one month.

8. When the money comes back

Once a refund is agreed, it is processed to the original payment method. Timing follows the Reserve Bank of India’s turnaround framework, as the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020 require:

StageTiming
Refund initiated by usWithin 5 working days of the refund being agreed
Credited to your accountWithin 14 days at the outside
Cancelled before dispatchRefunded in full, no questions

If your bank takes longer than that, tell us — we can give you the reference to chase it with.

9. Who pays return postage

  • The shop pays when the item was damaged, wrong, or not as described. You should never be out of pocket for their mistake.
  • You pay when you have changed your mind about a non-living item.
  • Usually nobody posts anything back for a damaged plant. We would rather you photographed it than paid to return something that will not survive the journey.

10. If we disagree

Where a buyer and a shop cannot agree, we decide, and we will explain the reasoning to both of you. Deciding for the shop is a real outcome — we are not going to pretend every complaint is automatically upheld, because that would simply push the cost onto small growers.

If you disagree with our decision, the routes beyond us are set out on the Contact page, including the National Consumer Helpline (1915) and the consumer commissions.
