Terms of Service

Last updated 30 July 2026 · Operated by Country Devs LLP, Bengaluru, Karnataka, India – 560001

These Terms govern your access to and use of LeafRanger — the mobile app, the website, and the marketplace — operated by Country Devs LLP, a limited liability partnership registered in Karnataka, India. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them.

We’ve written these to be read. Where a clause matters more than the others, it’s called out rather than buried.

1. Who you're dealing with

LeafRanger is operated by Country Devs LLP, a limited liability partnership registered in Karnataka, India, with its registered office at Bengaluru, Karnataka, India – 560001. In these Terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Country Devs LLP.

You can reach us at support@leafranger.com for anything, or legal@leafranger.com for legal and data matters.

2. What LeafRanger is

LeafRanger helps you look after plants. It identifies plants from photographs, diagnoses problems, models your home and its light, schedules watering against local weather, and provides an assistant (“Herb”) that answers from our plant catalogue. It also hosts a community and a marketplace where independent shops sell plants and related goods.

The plant catalogue, its grading, and all software are ours. Nothing in these Terms gives you a right to extract, copy or redistribute the catalogue.

3. Accounts

  • You must be at least 18, or have a parent or guardian agree on your behalf.
  • You are responsible for what happens under your account. Keep your password to yourself and tell us promptly if you think someone else has it.
  • One person, one account. Don’t impersonate anyone.
  • You can close your account at any time — see Delete your account.

4. Subscriptions and billing

LeafRanger has a permanently free tier. Paid plans (Gardener and Botanist) are billed monthly in advance and renew automatically until you cancel.

Where you bought it decides who refunds it. A subscription purchased through the Google Play Store is billed by Google under Google’s terms, and refunds for it are governed by Google’s refund policy — not by ours. We can’t reverse a charge we never received.

  • Cancelling stops the next renewal. Your paid features stay active until the end of the period you have already paid for.
  • No partial refunds on a monthly plan, because it is billed in advance and you keep the full period. Any month you have started counts as used.
  • Downgrading returns you to the free tier at the end of the period. Plants above the free limit are not deleted — you keep them, but cannot add new ones until you are back under the cap.
  • Price changes are notified before they take effect, and never apply to a period you have already paid for.

The full position, including billing errors, is in the Cancellation & Refund Policy.

5. The marketplace, and our role in it

We are a marketplace, not the seller. When you buy a plant or a pot through LeafRanger, your contract of sale is with the independent shop that listed it. They own the stock, they set the price and the delivery terms, and they dispatch the goods.

Country Devs LLP is an electronic commerce entity operating a marketplace model under the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020. We provide the platform, take payment, and pass the seller their share.

What that means in practice:

  • Each listing shows the seller’s details, the total price, and where they ship to, before you commit.
  • The seller is responsible for the goods being as described, for packing them, and for the delivery window they published.
  • We do not warrant a seller’s goods. We do set standards, monitor them, and suspend sellers who repeatedly fail to meet them.
  • A basket spanning two shops becomes a separate order for each, off one payment.
  • Stock and price are re-checked against the live listing at the moment you pay, so an item that has sold out fails at checkout rather than afterwards.

Returns, refunds and delivery are set out in the Cancellation & Refund Policy and the Shipping & Delivery Policy.

6. If you sell here

Sellers apply, are verified, and agree to seller terms before listing. In summary, a seller must:

  • be entitled to sell the goods, and hold any registration their turnover requires;
  • describe goods accurately, including size and condition, and name species correctly;
  • publish delivery times and shipping costs they can actually meet;
  • hold stock they list, and cancel promptly when they cannot fulfil;
  • respond to buyers, and handle returns under the published policy.

We charge a commission on the item total, disclosed in the seller terms before any listing goes live. Repeated failures lead to a warning and then suspension.

7. Your content and ours

Photographs, posts and comments you upload remain yours. You grant us a licence to host, display and process them so the service can work — for example, to run an identification, to show a post to the people you shared it with, or to keep a diagnosis against a plant so you can see whether it improved.

We do not sell your content, and we do not hand it to third parties to train their models.

The app, the catalogue, the branding and the software are ours or our licensors’. You may not copy, scrape or redistribute the catalogue, in whole or in part.

8. Acceptable use

Don’t:

  • scrape, bulk-download or attempt to reconstruct the plant catalogue;
  • probe, overload or interfere with the service or its security;
  • post content that is unlawful, hateful, harassing, or dangerously wrong about plant safety;
  • list prohibited goods, or anything you are not entitled to sell;
  • use the service to impersonate someone, or to defraud a buyer or seller.

9. Plant advice is not professional advice

Nothing in LeafRanger is veterinary, medical or safety advice. Toxicity information is provided for guidance and is marked as assessed-harmful, assessed-safe, or not assessed — the third is not a statement of safety. If a person or an animal has eaten part of a plant, contact a doctor or a vet immediately. Do not rely on this app, or any app, in that situation.

Identification and diagnosis are best-effort and state their confidence. Never eat, brew or apply a plant on the strength of an identification from a photograph.

10. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the service running but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Features may change, and some may be withdrawn. Where a change materially reduces what a paid plan provides, we will tell you before it takes effect and you may cancel.

We may update these Terms. Material changes are notified in the app or by email, and the “last updated” date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.

11. Liability

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Subject to that: we are not liable for the acts or omissions of an independent seller, for loss or damage to a plant after it leaves a seller, or for indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability to you in any twelve-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period, or ₹5,000, whichever is greater.

This does not affect your rights against a seller, or your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.

12. Ending the agreement

You may stop using LeafRanger and close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these Terms, that is used fraudulently, or where we are required to by law — and we will tell you why unless we are legally prevented from doing so.

Clauses that by their nature should survive termination (content licences already granted, liability, governing law) do survive it.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, have exclusive jurisdiction, except that nothing prevents you from bringing a consumer complaint before the consumer forum for the place where you live, as the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 permits.

14. Grievances

If something goes wrong, write to legal@leafranger.com and say it is a grievance. We acknowledge within 48 hours and resolve within one month, as the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020 require.

Grievance Officer: the named officer and their direct contact details are published here before the marketplace accepts its first order, as the Rules require. We have not put a placeholder name on a page you might rely on. Until then, grievances go to legal@leafranger.com and are handled on the same clock.

If you are not satisfied with the outcome, you can approach the National Consumer Helpline on 1915, or the consumer commission for your area. That right exists regardless of anything in these Terms.
